About the Work:
This work is a collection of five very short miniatures for orchestra, none of which are meant to be too serious. They are written to each have their own musical character and are seemingly unrelated in subject matter. Each miniature is connected to the end of the previous through mood, gesture, or articulation, resulting in a sense of continuity and narrative. Each piece is additionally built from previous musical material, particularly from 'Haiku'. The result is a peculiarity of unity between disparates.
